Latest season of Netflix drama ‘House of Cards’ features York grad

House of Cards released its much-anticipated third season on February 27. One of the season’s new characters is Dr. Alan Cooke, a cardiovascular surgeon played by Newfoundland & Labrador native and York grad Shawn Doyle (BFA ’91).

Lassonde School invests $1.5-million to reach 50:50 gender goal

The honorary co-chairs of the Lassonde 50:50 Challenge will be Silicon Valley entrepreneur and philanthropist Sandra Bergeron and Katty Kay, journalist and co-author of The Confidence Code and Womenomics. Both will be actively involved providing advice in developing the strategy for the Challenge.

Joshua Yasay’s legacy continues with endowed award

It may be some time before the family of Joshua Yasay (BA Spec. Hons. ’11) can find closure in his senseless death. But despite the ongoing investigation into the July 2012 shooting spree, in which Joshua was one of two innocent bystanders killed, and the grueling court proceedings, the Yasay family is thankful for a small victory: the Joshua Yasay Award for Excellence in Criminology and Community Service has been endowed in perpetuity.
